Untelling stories
O Castro Art Village—an abandoned village that is being revived—inspired Albert to create music and drawings based on long forgotten childhood stories and memories. The work evolved into an extended installation, presented in the ruïns of the village of O Castro de Mourelos. The process began by installing a typewriter at the heart of the room and letting the words emerge. That resulted in a 15-meter-long letter, which at the exhibition hung from the window, left at the mercy of the wind. In the opposing ruïn another banner, containing a 15 meter long red line that ‘communicated’ with the letter in the main building. Overlooking the valley, sitting on a chair, one listens – with headphones – to the story of a boy. Elsewhere there is a story about a labyrinth, and in an old wooden boat you can hear how a son meets his father. Four transistor radios placed on the cardinal points of a fireplace created a wondrous soundscape. Hear and read the stories here:
